Alfredo Binda's 5th
SPECIAL NOTE: For the first time in Giro history the Mountain Classification was calculated.
SPECIAL NOTE: The organizers expanded the Giro to a total of seventeen stages.
SPECIAL NOTE: In addition to the Mountain Classification the organizers introduced the Individual Time Trial.
Six stage wins including 3 in a row broke open a close race and gave Alfredo Binda the victory in front of Belgian Joseph Demuysere. Binda held the race lead into the finish in Milan.
Alfredo Binda’s 1933 Giro victory marked the first rider to win the Giro d'Italia five-times.
Binda also won every major climb on the way to winning the first ever Mountain Classification Prize. .
